Reading U13s V Bracknell 10 - 21
It was another wet and windy day when Reading under 13’s played there very first league game against Bracknell at Bracknell on there big pitch. From the start the game was equally matched and it was only from a quick ball that Bracknell outside centre made a run down the touch line and back in to the middle to score the first try against Reading. The second of Bracknell’s try’s was very similar as the number 13 scored again, but not before some fierce tackling by Reading’s second row player Matt Alderman and a very good charge down which caught Bracknell unawares. Both of Bracknell’s conversions were easy kicks from right in front of the posts. This spurred Reading on and just before half time with some good pressure on Bracknell’s defence, Reading’s forwards managed to score a try. This was scored by Ryan Forester in the far corner of the pitch after he pushed his way over the line with the help of Harry Rushent. This gave Patrick Tuhy a difficult kick to put between the posts which didn’t quite make it.
In the second half Reading came out strong and following another big push from Reading’s forwards, which gave the opportunity for Harry Rushent to score a well earned try in the corner again. Patrick Tuhy again had a difficult task to kick for the conversion. His first attempt fell short; this was retaken after the referee judged the Bracknell squad to have impeded the kick by moving before the kick was taken. His second attempt was still a difficult task and fell short again. A difficult task for anyone to have pulled off. Following the Reading try this bought the score to 14-10 to Bracknell and Reading looked well placed to come back and win.
Some good tackling by Jack Taylor, Matt Alderman and Tom Everett stopped the Bracknell number 13 scoring again, bought down again by George Withers just before the line. Following this George Withers when Reading had won back the ball ran hard and fast down the touch line to score but judged by the referee not to have been grounded and try not given.
Bracknell came back with a further try and this was converted to leave the score at 21-10 to Bracknell.
Reading’s man of the match was Matt Alderman for his tackles made where it counted and his all round support in every aspect of the game.
Many thanks Mark
